This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Communicates effectively in both spoken and written forms using professional English, accurate grammar, and specific vocabulary; learns to simplify complex insurance subjects for a diverse audience and articulate benefits without using jargon; develops skills to listen actively, understand discussions, and pose relevant questions that facilitate issue resolution; and maintains precise and thorough electronic notes of conversations in the designated software systems.
• Engages directly with customers, which may include members, groups, and providers, to address issues related to products, services, and health insurance plans provided by ABCBS and its affiliated companies; completes interactions in accordance with company standards and directives, while adhering to state and federal regulations, including the privacy rules outlined in HIPAA guidelines.
• Consistently presents oneself in a positive and professional manner, treating others with courtesy, etiquette, and tact; manages confrontational situations with empathy while striving to reach fact-based, objective conclusions and resolutions; and achieves mutual agreement through negotiation.
• Develops expertise in benefits and eligibility for health insurance plans supported by various lines of business, as needed; and knows how to locate and utilize information essential for delivering exceptional customer service.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a specialized customer service setting.
• OR two (2) years of college coursework (at least 48 credit hours) along with one (1) year of experience in a specialized customer service role.
