This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.
• Provide crisis, suicide, and homicide intervention counseling over the phone to individuals seeking emergency or crisis support.
• Identify and recommend suitable organizations and service providers to address the needs of callers.
• Monitor the situations of callers through follow-up case assessments.
• Accurately document and maintain comprehensive records of all telephone interventions conducted during the work shift.
• Review daily and “pass-through” call reports to ensure accurate information documentation and record-keeping.
• As required, supervise and oversee volunteers and/or staff counselors during individual shifts.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality crisis assistance services, compliance with CIC and SCS policies and procedures, and precise documentation practices.
• As assigned, deliver training and consultation on crisis intervention and suicide awareness and prevention.
• Attend and engage in individual supervision, staff and team meetings, as well as required CIC, 988, and SCS training sessions.
• As designated, represent the CIC in both internal and external activities that promote crisis and suicide awareness, prevention, and available resources.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Services, or a related field (minimum); a degree in Psychology is preferred.
• Active CIC volunteers may qualify with a High School diploma or GED, successful completion of all required AAS/988/Vibrant training for Crisis/Suicide Intervention Counselor status, and at least six months of independent volunteer service as a Crisis Intervention Counselor with the CIC following completion of required training.
• A minimum of one year of experience in crisis intervention or behavioral health services.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability and willingness to set aside personal judgments regarding callers facing diverse issues.
• Commitment to protecting the confidentiality of both callers and co-workers.
• Previous experience in a Crisis Call Center is preferred.
• Prior experience in a confidential remote work environment is preferred.
