This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Provide academic guidance to undergraduate students, focusing on building meaningful relationships, setting academic goals, supporting students facing challenges, ensuring degree clearance, and making appropriate referrals.
• Lead initiatives related to advising, retention, and success for at-risk populations, including low-income and first-generation students.
• Formulate and execute strategic goals and action plans.
• Organize events, including a comprehensive summer program.
• Guide students regarding academic objectives, university policies, degree requirements, academic milestones, and progress towards degree completion.
• Support, mentor, advocate for, and offer feedback and referrals to students.
• Review student records to ensure compliance with university and program degree requirements in preparation for graduation.
• Collaborate with academic departments concerning programs, requirements, and student issues.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and assess initiatives aimed at recruitment, retention, and graduation.
• Assist in conducting needs assessments, establishing goals, and developing and implementing plans.
• Supervise student workers and manage budgets and purchasing responsibilities.
• Create systems for data collection and tracking; access, extract, interpret, and share data with university offices.
• Convey findings through oral presentations and written reports or analyses.
• Partner with campus entities on academic and professional development opportunities and events.
• Oversee participation in the summer Early Connection Opportunity Program.
• Represent the Hajim School on committees and interact with prospective students, parents, and alumni.
• Publish information on websites and other external media.
• Assist with departmental, school, and university programs and events.
• Manage the department email and address routine inquiries.
• A bachelor's degree along with 3 years of advising experience and program management in higher education, or closely related experience with clear evidence of a deliberate transition into higher education is required.
• Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• The ability to work independently, create action plans, think creatively, solve problems, organize events, and demonstrate flexibility in decision-making and project prioritization is preferred.
• Proficiency in interpreting policies and making complex judgments is preferred.
• Skills in collecting, managing, manipulating, analyzing, and summarizing both qualitative and quantitative data are preferred.
• The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels, collaborate, and communicate efficiently with diverse audiences (including students, parents, faculty, and staff) through both oral and written means is preferred.
• A background in institutional research, familiarity with database tools, Workday Enterprise systems, and intermediate knowledge of Excel is preferred.
