Crisis Intervention Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.

📋 Description

• Offers crisis and suicide intervention counseling via telephone to individuals seeking emergency or crisis support.

• Identifies and recommends appropriate organizations and service providers to address callers' needs.

• Tracks the status of callers' situations through case follow-up.

• Accurately documents and maintains comprehensive records of all telephone interventions conducted during the work shift.

• Reviews daily logs and client records to ensure precise information recording and upkeep.

• Oversees and evaluates the performance of telephone counselors and volunteers to guarantee they deliver accurate, high-quality crisis assistance, including proper documentation.

• Provides training and consultation on crisis intervention and suicide prevention to other crisis intervention counselors, volunteers, service providers, and community groups upon request.

• Attends and engages in staff and team meetings, sharing insights related to the procedures of crisis intervention counselors and the services they offer.

• As needed, delivers crisis intervention to community groups affected by suicide.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Human Services, or a related discipline; or a High School diploma or GED with completion of AAS/ Life Line's 50 hours of Crisis Intervention/Suicide Prevention training and six months of volunteer experience with Seven Counties Services following training.

• At least six months of experience in social services.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Familiarity with available community resources.

• Capability to make sound decisions and judgments in high-pressure or unique situations.

• Effective supervisory skills and the ability to collaborate in a team setting.
