This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Answering the crisis support hotline for individuals affected by suicide, including those who are bereaved, engaging in self-harm, experiencing suicidal thoughts, and concerned family or friends.

• Performing risk assessments, including evaluating lethality for suicide situations.

• Delivering a variety of evidence-based professional crisis counseling services and personal support, utilizing de-escalation strategies and crisis intervention methods.

• Evaluating the caller's needs and determining the urgency for immediate safety or emergency medical assistance, as well as making referrals to suitable services like face-to-face crisis intervention, case management/advocacy, individual therapy, or group support.

• Keeping precise and thorough records of calls, highlighting key issues and actions taken regarding referrals.

• Adhering to obligations under the Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 & 2018 (GDPR).

• Assisting in the creation of effective crisis management plans to aid callers in distress.

• Making swift decisions on the best course of action when uncertain about how to proceed.


⛳️ Requirements

• 1 - 3 years of experience in helplines, whether in a paid or volunteer role.

• Ideally holds a Master's Degree in Psychology/Counseling or a related field.

• Completed training in Crisis Intervention or Suicide Prevention.

• Experience dealing with high-risk clinical situations involving individuals at risk of or affected by suicide or crises.

• Possesses the necessary insurances required by your country.

• Ability to maintain emotional stability during high-pressure situations and recover from stressful interactions and high-risk cases.

• **Plus Points if you:**

• have a background in mental health or emergency services.

• can communicate effectively in more than one language.

• hold professional indemnity insurance.
