This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provides crisis counseling services through telephone and chat platforms.
• Collaborates with shift supervisors to respond to, manage, screen, and conduct risk assessments for crisis calls.
• Acts as a mandated reporter when abuse is suspected.
• Maintains precise and comprehensive call documentation.
• Completes continuing education requirements as mandated or requested for the agency and the Suicide Prevention Center program.
• Aids in the training of new counselors and volunteers.
• Engages in community outreach and/or media events, such as resource tables and presentations focused on suicide prevention.
• Attends regularly scheduled meetings as needed or required for the Suicide Prevention Center.
• Proficiency in the required language for the assigned program (Spanish).
• At least six months of relevant behavioral health experience, with one year of experience in crisis intervention or suicide prevention strongly preferred.
• Must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to engage empathetically with individuals from diverse backgrounds and demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence.
• Excellent multitasking and time management abilities, capable of advancing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting all deadlines.
• Proven ability to effectively utilize web-based platforms, electronic documentation systems, and communication tools, with proficient typing and data entry skills necessary for accurately documenting interactions in real time.
• Must have high-speed internet with an active Ethernet connection and a quiet/confidential workspace.
• Should be empathetic, flexible, and adaptable to various circumstances.
• Must have open availability and flexibility to work within the program’s operating hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be dependable and able to adhere to schedules based on program needs.
• Completion of required annual continuing education trainings is necessary.
• Should possess knowledge of all job-specific skills, including safety assessment, data collection, and triage.
• Must be a goal-oriented team player with substantial experience in large and complex systems.
• A commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies is essential.
• Must successfully pass our pre-employment screening, including a background check and live scan fingerprinting.
