This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Supervise initial credit underwriting and portfolio management within designated business lines
• Oversee underwriters and credit professionals, including Credit Products Specialists and Credit Products Analysts
• Ensure precise risk ratings, loan assessments, underwriting, and continual portfolio management
• Recognize emerging credit risks and opportunities through data-driven insights and portfolio analytics
• Offer recommendations to leadership that support sound credit decisions
• Collaborate with sales, risk, technology, legal, and compliance teams
• Uphold credit quality across assigned portfolios and lending sectors
• Establish uniform credit decision-making and risk management practices across regions and sectors
• Recruit, nurture, coach, and retain talent in credit underwriting and portfolio management
• Act as a point of contact for deal-flow assignment, credit-risk evaluations, and escalations
• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, internal policies, and risk frameworks
• Provide credit-risk reporting and portfolio analysis to senior leadership
• Support ongoing improvement, transformation initiatives, and strategic decision-making
• Engage with legal counsel and negotiate credit-agreement terms directly with clients
• Bachelor's Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Business, Economics, or a related field, along with a Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent)
• Over 12 years of first-line credit underwriting, portfolio management, and risk management experience in the financial sector
• Experience in credit strategy and credit analytics
• More than 5 years managing teams of credit analysts and underwriters in a specialized vertical
• At least 5 years in a specialized line of business, such as special commercial industries, capital markets, or corporate commercial banking
• Proficient in credit bureaus, credit decision engines, credit and cash-flow modeling, income/identity verification, and loss forecasting
• Strong understanding of federal and state laws and regulations governing credit decisions
• Familiarity with the syndicated loan market and associated processes for specific lines of business
• Competency in underwriting models, portfolio management strategies, and risk assessment
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities
• Capacity to convert credit analysis into actionable strategies and policies
• Ability to integrate industry knowledge and market trends into credit-risk evaluations
• Skill in managing multiple priorities, adhering to deadlines, and executing tasks efficiently
• Strong leadership, coaching, collaboration, and team development capabilities
• Knowledge of legal documentation, including credit agreements
• Ability to engage with legal counsel and negotiate terms directly with clients
