This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Accountable for delivering an independent viewpoint in the underwriting and management of intricate Wholesale Banking loans and relationships, adhering to the bank’s legal lending threshold.
• Collaborates with Relationship Managers, Credit Portfolio Managers, and the Credit Portfolio Management Team Leader to provide credit solutions through: underwriting, portfolio oversight, deal team coordination, and extensive interactions with both internal and external clients.
• Directs the independent underwriting process for new and renewal opportunities for clients and prospects within an allocated portfolio.
• Conducts thorough, independent evaluations of financial statements, management capabilities, industry influence, competitive factors, collateral, and guarantor support.
• Generates detailed short or long-term financial forecasts using vendor-provided solutions such as Moody’s Risk Analyst or Excel spreadsheets.
• Offers recommendations to Relationship Managers and Credit Approvers concerning credit amounts, structures, and adherence to policy.
• Oversees the assigned portfolio by actively monitoring performance and trends, ensuring the integrity of risk ratings.
• Engages in or leads client discussions with the Relationship Manager regarding in-depth financial inquiries.
• Complies with all relevant laws and regulations governing bank operations, including adherence to Atlantic Union Bankshares’ BSA/AML Policy and Procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• A minimum of seven years of experience in a commercial lending setting.
• Experience across various lines of business, including but not limited to Commercial & Industrial, real estate development and builder lines, service, retail, commercial real estate, religious organizations, and government sectors.
• Advanced written and analytical abilities, with a focus on analyzing balance sheet structures, as well as income and cash flow trends.
• Familiarity with financial statement spreading, including proficiency in creating pro-forma statements using Moody's or similar software.
• Proficient in PC applications such as Word and Excel, including the use of both system-generated and user-created formulas, macros, charts, and tables.
