
Credit Officer – Equipment Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare and evaluate Flagstar Approval Memos, loan modifications, and portfolio assessments in collaboration with Relationship Managers.
• Conduct credit evaluations, industry analysis, and company research to suggest suitable credit frameworks.
• Review, either approve or decline, credit applications and escalate recommendations as necessary.
• Act as a voting member on credit committees for the approval of loans.
• Oversee credit portfolios and spearhead credit risk assessment activities.
• Assist in formulating loan-level strategies and manage asset management reporting.
• Identify trends within the portfolio and promote effective portfolio management strategies.
• Participate in weekly deal evaluation meetings.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations as well as internal policies.
• Collaborate with various business lines to develop and enhance credit policies and procedures.
• Attend client meetings and conduct on-site project visits as required.
• Develop and monitor key risk indicators for the Bank.
• Review departmental reports to track portfolio performance and detect emerging risks.
• Lead or contribute to special initiatives.
• Work with peer managers to exchange best practices and enhance team performance.
• Enhance templates, analytical tools, and processes for the credit analysis procedure.
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in decision-making.
• Analyze and resolve issues.
• Bachelor's degree (4 years or equivalent) in Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of experience in credit and lending.
• Capability to analyze complex financial information and evaluate creditworthiness.
• Ability to make prompt, well-informed credit decisions under pressure.
• High level of accuracy in reviewing financial statements, legal documents, and credit reports.
• Proficient in clearly communicating credit recommendations, risk factors, and policy exceptions.
• Strong ability to work effectively with relationship managers, clients, and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to proactively identify issues and develop practical, risk-conscious solutions.
• Proficient in credit scoring models.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficient in financial modeling tools.
• Proficient in risk management software such as Moody’s RiskCalc and S&P Capital IQ.
• Capable of building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
• Skilled in establishing trusted relationships with internal and external clients.
