This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Integrate materials from the Online Classroom Research & Assessment Course alongside the previous 15-week MIIS Assessment course to create a program tailored for world language educators in elementary through higher education settings.
β’ Develop a comprehensive 7-module online asynchronous Language Assessment course to be conducted over seven weeks during Fall B 2026.
β’ Tailor all content specifically for instructors teaching languages other than English, accommodating a variety of educational environments.
β’ Incorporate introductory and video lectures, audio lectures, curated readings, videos, and podcasts, with up to two discussion forums per module, as well as activities that showcase module knowledge, skills, and dispositions.
β’ Collaborate with in-language readers to provide feedback on student designs for the capstone assessment.
β’ Doctoral degree in Applied Linguistics or a closely related discipline.
β’ Proven experience in teaching courses within teacher education programs.
β’ Demonstrated success in designing and delivering online asynchronous courses.
β’ Familiarity with Canvas as a learning management system.
β’ Proficient in utilizing technical tools to enhance engagement in an online synchronous learning environment.
β’ Extensive knowledge of the ACTFL Proficiency Skill and the corresponding Can-Do statements across various skills and proficiency levels.
β’ Understanding of the ACTFL World Language Readiness Standards.
β’ Capability to operate a computer, whether standing or seated.
β’ Ability to access written documents, audio recordings, and video content.
β’ Engaging and supportive community.
