This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Take ownership of and drive the strategy for the US business unit, ensuring alignment with Mercuryo's global roadmap.
• Manage a US-specific backlog directly linked to the overall product and business backlog — you will determine priorities, tasks, and their rationale.
• Convert strategic objectives into actionable workstreams across various teams and ensure successful delivery.
• Provide regular updates to global leadership regarding progress, challenges, and performance metrics.
• Act as the primary liaison with US regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with financial institutions, regulators, and key stakeholders within the industry.
• Lead significant external discussions with partners, authorities, and third parties.
• Collaborate closely with Legal and Compliance to navigate the regulatory framework in the US.
• Utilize an existing network and develop new connections to facilitate Mercuryo's expansion in the US market.
• Identify and pursue partnerships and business opportunities that align with growth objectives.
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and in media, enhancing Mercuryo's credibility in the US crypto and fintech sectors.
• Coordinate contributions from Product, Legal, Compliance, Business Development, and Operations around shared US priorities — while you may not directly manage all contributors, you are accountable for the results.
• Assign responsibilities, establish timelines, monitor progress, and quickly address any issues that arise.
• Promote a "roll-up-your-sleeves" culture where all team members, including yourself, remain engaged with the actual work.
• Mentor team members and support their professional growth in a fast-paced environment.
• Oversee the operational establishment of the US entity, including staffing, infrastructure, tools, and vendor relationships.
• Negotiate contracts with third-party service providers and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Implement scalable processes that can adapt as the business grows.
• Develop and manage the US budget, ensuring financial discipline and achievement of targets.
• Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and deliver regular performance reports to global leadership.
• A minimum of 10 years in financial services, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within crypto, fintech, or banking.
• Extensive knowledge of the US regulatory landscape for financial services and crypto.
• Demonstrated success in building and managing cross-functional or distributed remote teams.
• Strong instincts for backlog management and prioritization — capable of navigating complex workstreams with multiple stakeholders while maintaining momentum.
• Established connections within the US crypto and fintech ecosystem.
• Exceptional negotiation and relationship management abilities.
• A proactive individual who creates structure rather than waiting for it to be provided.
• High comfort level with ambiguity, rapid pace, and shifting priorities.
• A challenger mindset — willing to question the status quo and advocate for improvement.
