Cost Estimator, UK Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Prepare comprehensive construction cost estimates and pricing proposals for tenders.

• Analyze architectural and construction drawings along with specifications.

• Execute quantity take-offs and accurately measure project requirements.

• Evaluate project scope and pinpoint potential cost risks or omissions.

• Verify and conduct quality checks on AI-generated estimates and take-offs.

• Utilize professional judgment to detect pricing discrepancies, logical errors, or missing details.

• Communicate directly with contractors, builders, and project stakeholders to clarify project requirements.

• Maintain databases related to estimating and pricing information.

• Support initiatives aimed at continuous improvement within the estimating process.

• Collaborate effectively in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

• Generate precise estimates and establish yourself as a trusted reviewer of AI-assisted outputs.

• Contribute to the continual advancement of the company's estimating procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of practical experience in construction estimating or quantity surveying.

• Strong grasp of construction drawings, specifications, take-offs, and pricing methods.

• Proven experience in preparing estimates for residential, commercial, or mixed-use construction projects.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Keen attention to detail and commercial acumen.

• Proficient in communicating with UK-based contractors and construction professionals via phone and email.

• Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage workload in a remote setting.

• Positive disposition towards technology, AI, and process automation.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Experience in a construction estimating consultancy, SME, or a fast-paced construction environment.

• Familiarity with UK construction projects and estimating practices.

• Background in a growing business, agency, consultancy, or entrepreneurial environment.

• Comfortable with adapting to shifting priorities and handling multiple projects at once.

• Naturally proactive, responsible, and solutions-oriented.
