Corporate Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Assist in managing litigation, pre-litigation disputes, and claims.

• Compose demand letters, settlement agreements, releases, and other related documents.

• Collaborate with and oversee outside legal counsel.

• Investigate and assist in resolving disputes involving customers, contractors, property owners, vendors, and other third parties.

• Provide support for regulatory, permitting, compliance, and government affairs issues.

• Offer practical legal advice to business and operational teams.

• Conduct legal research and draft concise guidance memoranda.

• Create policies, forms, and internal procedures.

• Review standard commercial agreements and identify legal risks.

• Independently handle assigned matters, maintain organized files, track deadlines, and perform related administrative tasks without dedicated legal support staff.

• Report directly to the Vice President and Corporate Counsel.

• Aid in broadband expansion initiatives throughout the Midwest.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

• Active Illinois law license in good standing.

• Eligibility to practice law in Illinois without restrictions.

• Approximately 3-5 years of preferred legal experience.

• Experience in litigation, dispute resolution, or claims management is highly preferred.

• Strong skills in legal research, writing, and analysis.

• Capability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.

• Proven ability to manage legal matters with minimal supervision and without reliance on a legal assistant.

• Familiarity with telecommunications, construction, real estate, regulatory, municipal, or utility matters is advantageous.

• Business-oriented and solutions-focused mindset.

• Exceptional writing and communication skills.

• Comfortable handling disputes and litigation-related issues.

• Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously.
