This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Prepare, assess, negotiate, and oversee commercial agreements, including those related to customers, suppliers, services, consulting, confidentiality, software, and technology.
• Deliver timely and practical legal guidance to business executives and operational teams.
• Assist in matters concerning privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and information governance.
• Aid in employment-related issues, such as employment contracts, workplace policies, accommodations, investigations, and terminations.
• Conduct legal research and produce actionable legal advice for internal stakeholders.
• Support activities related to regulatory compliance and risk management.
• Facilitate mergers, acquisitions, business integrations, and strategic transactions, including legal due diligence and document review.
• Collaborate with external counsel on litigation, employment, regulatory, and commercial issues.
• Assist with corporate governance, maintenance of corporate records, and management of subsidiaries.
• Evaluate and develop corporate policies and compliance programs.
• Identify legal risks and propose practical, business-focused solutions.
• Assist the General Counsel with special projects and additional legal matters as necessary.
• Report directly to the General Counsel and collaborate closely with business leaders across Canada.
• Juris Doctor (JD), Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Licence en droit (LL.L), or an equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or the Barreau du Quebec.
• Approximately 2-4 years of post-call legal experience.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Professional proficiency in both English and French is highly preferred.
• Experience at a recognized regional or national law firm is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with privacy, data protection, healthcare, employment, technology, or regulatory matters is considered an asset.
• Strong analytical, drafting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capacity to identify risks and suggest practical solutions.
• Sound commercial judgment.
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring a high standard of work output.
