This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +6 more states.
• Deliver technical assistance to corporate and mill teams tasked with DCS, QCS, PLC, and drive systems.
• Recognize, suggest, and facilitate DCS training opportunities for control system engineers and technicians.
• Get involved early in the development of capital projects to ensure appropriate specification and support of control system equipment.
• Define DCS lifecycle management expectations for capital planning and long-term system reliability.
• Assist with corporate control system audits, evaluations, and enhancement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Operations, IT, and Controls organizations to create and promote best practices for control systems.
• Lead or coordinate planning efforts for system updates, upgrades, and reliability enhancements.
• Travel as necessary to support capital projects, reliability initiatives, troubleshooting activities, and system upgrades.
• Develop practical and innovative solutions to enhance cybersecurity on legacy control system platforms.
• Stay informed about supplier advisories, known issues, knowledge base articles, software updates, and emerging risks.
• Ensure DCS initiatives align with risk management, production continuity, and operational resilience.
• Assist each mill in the maintenance, improvement, and sustainability of its DCS systems.
• Act as a resource for best practices and serve as a liaison among mill teams, Corporate Technology specialists, and Corporate IT professionals.
• Over 10 years of extensive technical expertise and hands-on experience.
• Proficient in Distributed Control Systems hardware, including Honeywell, ABB Bailey, Emerson DeltaV, or Rockwell.
• Experience in control tuning.
• Expertise in instrumentation.
• Proficient in DCS logic programming.
• Experience in project management.
• Background in DCS upgrades.
• Knowledge of process optimization.
• Experience in estimating project budgets.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.
• Exceptional communication skills with an ability to collaborate effectively.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Proactive, curious, innovative, and service-oriented mindset.
• Ability to remain updated on instrumentation, DCS technologies, cybersecurity threats, supplier advisories, software updates, and industry best practices.
