
Controls Field Service Technician – Envelope Machine Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Conduct electrical and controls field service tasks in an industrial computer-driven environment involving envelope converting machinery.
• Test, install, initiate, and demonstrate envelope converting machines, which include PLC/servo-controls for die-cutting, gumming, folding, seam-forming, and window-patching sections.
• Educate customers on the operational procedures and electrical maintenance of this equipment.
• Identify and resolve electrical, controls, and process issues on envelope converting machinery, both on-site and remotely.
• Diagnose PLC and servo control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Determine the root causes of equipment malfunctions and implement corrective measures to minimize customer downtime.
• Offer ongoing technical assistance to customers and communicate recurring issues to engineering for continuous improvement support.
• Utilize assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, machine manuals, technical procedures, and specifications to set up envelope converting machines.
• Configure and operate envelope converting equipment to manufacture customer products.
• Guide operators in setup and operational procedures while providing technical and practical solutions to customer inquiries or challenges.
• Execute routine and emergency breakdown electrical services on company envelope converting machinery.
• Analyze root causes of issues and prepare documentation outlining findings and solutions.
• Support the installation coordinator during pre- and post-installation meetings and audits at client facilities.
• Report quality concerns and take corrective actions to avert recurrence.
• Serve as a liaison between the customer and the company, fostering positive customer relationships.
• Prepare and submit necessary reports.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced staff.
• Cultivate and maintain a safety-conscious environment that encourages a safety mindset.
• An Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• A B.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire to operate equipment.
• A robust skill set in electrical and controls, including troubleshooting PLC and servo drives, motor and VFD diagnostics, schematic and wiring diagram interpretation, and sensor/vision-system calibration, is essential.
• Knowledge of basic web handling and industrial experience, especially in envelope converting controls, including registration and tension control, print-mark/vision sensing, and PLC-driven die-cutting, gumming, folding, and window-patching sections, is advantageous.
• Preferred experience includes working as an envelope machine adjuster, electrician, or controls technician on die-cutting, folding, gumming, or seam-forming equipment.
• Familiarity with Rockwell or Bosch PLC platforms is highly recommended.
• Experience with Indramat or Rockwell servo control systems is beneficial.
• Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time is required.
