This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership and actively manage core general ledger accounting, which includes journal entries, reconciliations, and maintenance of financial data.
• Lead and facilitate the month-end close process, ensuring precision, completeness, and adherence to a consistent closing schedule.
• Prepare and examine key close schedules, encompassing revenue recognition, labor distributions, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Identify and rectify discrepancies while guaranteeing that all financial data is accurate and ready for audit.
• Prepare and finalize monthly financial statements along with supporting schedules in compliance with GAAP.
• Provide financial reporting, variance analysis, and key performance metrics to leadership.
• Maintain active involvement in billing processes, including the review and escalation support for invoice preparation and submission.
• Manage revenue recognition and ensure consistency between contract data, billing, and financial reporting.
• Oversee the payroll process, including the review and approval of payroll runs.
• Supervise and support the execution of accounts payable and expense reimbursement processes.
• Handle daily cash management, monitoring cash position and liquidity requirements.
• Coordinate tax and compliance activities, including payroll taxes, 1099s, W-2s, and state registrations.
• Ensure the integrity of accounting data within Unanet and related systems, maintaining alignment between project data and the general ledger.
• Manage and support the finance team by providing clear direction, development, and oversight.
• Over 10 years of accounting/finance experience with escalating responsibilities; prior experience in a leadership role is essential.
• Direct experience in government contracting (GovCon) finance, including knowledge of FAR and DCAA requirements.
• Proven experience in leading full-cycle accounting and financial operations in a hands-on capacity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent government contracting and accounting experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education; CPA is a plus.
