This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Supervise all daily accounting operations while ensuring full alignment and compliance with US GAAP standards.

• Manage intricate technical accounting related to industry associations, encompassing membership revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and associated obligations.

• Generate and distribute precise, timely financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Coordinate all activities related to the annual audit, serving as the main point of contact with external auditors and regulatory agencies.

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes to guarantee accuracy and punctuality.

• Prepare accrual entries at the end of each month and quarter.

• Review all monthly bank and account reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable batch processes, as well as cash management transactions.

• Analyze changes in assets and liabilities, providing a variance report each quarter.

• Monitor and improve internal control processes across ACA and its affiliates.

• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory standards.

• Lead ongoing enhancements of financial processes and controls.

• Act as the primary contact for external parties during the annual audit.

• Prepare all audit schedules and supporting documentation as required from the client.

• Manage audit inquiries and ensure the timely completion of audit deliverables.

• Report and analyze the organization’s restricted and non-restricted investments and reserves on a monthly basis.

• Monitor cash balances across accounts while ensuring sufficient liquidity.

• Lead efforts to manage cash balances in various accounts to maximize returns while maintaining adequate liquidity.

• Collaborate with functional leaders to address accounting needs and provide timely guidance.

• Oversee the financial aspects of third-party transactions.

• Drive initiatives to enhance collections of overdue invoices by both the team and responsible functions.

• Gather, compile, and report on the organization’s budget, forecasts, and annual new initiatives.

• Advance the use of technology to streamline processes and enhance financial reporting.

• Promote the optimization of financial systems and reporting tools.

• Manage and record all investment accounting transactions, ensuring accurate valuation, unrealized/realized gains/losses, and income tracking.

• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships to protect organizational assets.

• Facilitate the annual budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes across departments.

• Conduct root-cause variance analysis and provide forward-looking insights to leadership.

• Develop financial models to evaluate the viability of new programs, member services, or capital expenditures.

• Present backward-looking financial figures and forward-looking financial planning and analysis data in clear, concise presentations.

• Prepare and deliver financial results, KPIs, and forecasts to board-level groups, committees, and executive leadership.

• Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff, ensuring appropriate workload distribution and professional growth.

• Cultivate a culture of teamwork, positive accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Provide structure while empowering team members to take ownership.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; a Master’s in Accounting or MBA is preferred.

• Over 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including a minimum of 3-5 years in a managerial Controller role.

• Experience in nonprofit or large industry associations and familiarity with their unique tax, operational, and regulatory reporting requirements is a significant advantage.

• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.

• A background in public accounting is strongly preferred.

• Advanced proficiency in SAGE/Intacct ERP/GL financial systems and modeling tools.

• Expertise or familiarity with Microsoft products such as Teams and Outlook.

• Experience with sophisticated internal controls and accounting for and reporting on multi-entity revenue.

• Audit readiness and being a dependable liaison for audit firms are essential for success in this role.

• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals at all levels of the organization.
