Context Engineer

Posted Jul 18

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Make technologies comprehensible and accessible for both humans and agents.

• Design and maintain knowledge bases.

• Engineer and manage context pipelines.

• Develop and deploy agents powered by the aforementioned technologies.

• Contribute to our AI Wizard, an AI agent that facilitates onboarding for thousands of PostHog users.

• Create custom agents, harnesses, skills, context pipelines, and MCPs, and deploy them to production.

• Establish systems to sustain our developer documentation and knowledge bases utilizing docs-as-code and AI engineering methods.

• Produce technical content across various formats, including documentation, example applications, and video explainers.

• Develop workflows for publishing streams such as changelogs.

• Collaborate with other teams to enable them to build on our systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in software development. Formal experience is not necessary, but you will be writing production code rather than just code samples.

• Proficiency in working with LLMs, coding agents, MCPs, and the latest AI engineering tools.

• A portfolio showcasing technical content (personal website, GitHub profile, YouTube channel, zip file, etc.).

• Strong writing and communication abilities.

• Experience in creating educational content tailored for developers.

• A well-defined perspective on what constitutes excellent documentation for both humans and AI.

🏝️ Benefits

• Transparency: Everyone has access to our roadmap, compensation structures (including how we manage terminations), our strategy, and operational insights through our public company handbook. Internally, we share revenue information, notes and slides from board meetings, and fundraising plans, ensuring everyone has the context necessary for sound decision-making.

• Autonomy: We empower everyone to make their own choices regarding their work. Team members select their next projects based on potential impact on customers and their personal interests and motivations. Engineers lead product teams and make key product decisions. Our teams are adaptable and can pivot as needed.

• Shipping fast: Why wait? We aim to develop a multitude of products, and a standard pace won't suffice. Our company is structured around small, autonomous, highly efficient teams of skilled engineers who can outpace larger companies by taking complete ownership of their products.

• Time for building: We prioritize productivity over meetings. As a fully remote company, we default to asynchronous communication – PRs > Issues > Slack. Tuesdays and Thursdays are designated as meeting-free days, allowing us to focus on building rather than coordinating excessively. This could be the most productive job you'll ever have.

• Ambition: We strive to tackle significant challenges. We firmly believe that aiming for the highest possible outcomes, even if we occasionally fall short, is preferable to not trying at all. We maintain an optimistic outlook on what is achievable and our capability to reach those goals.

• Being weird: Embracing “weirdness” means reimagining an already outstanding website for the fifth time. It encompasses launching every product related to customer data and creating developer tools that might seem superfluous in terms of shareholder value. Engaging in unconventional activities provides a competitive edge, and it’s enjoyable.
