This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Work closely with the Editor and Program Manager to refine and complete writing assignments.

• Perform comprehensive historical research to back each assignment.

• Create record descriptions, personal narratives that incorporate historical records, and blog entries.

• Ensure all assignments adhere to style guidelines, maintain quality and tone consistency, align with departmental objectives and values, and demonstrate awareness of the audience.

• Verify that facts and information are substantiated by extensive research.

• Meet submission deadlines for writing assignments.

• Provide updates and reports to the Editor and Program Manager upon request.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess experience in Jewish & Holocaust genealogy research and writing.

• Have specialized knowledge of Jewish history and records related to the Holocaust.

• Ability to craft accurate, culturally sensitive, and inclusive descriptions of collections.

• Experience in Jewish genealogy and historical research is preferred.

• A degree in history, English, journalism, or a similar field is preferred, or equivalent professional writing experience.

• Proven experience in writing about historical events.

• Experience in addressing sensitive topics in writing.

• Background in African American studies, Latin American studies, Native American studies, Asian American studies, American studies, British studies, French studies, European studies, or Australian studies.

• Strong writing and editing capabilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and standards.

• Capability to adhere to a style guide and maintain an appropriate tone.

• Proficient internet and research skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently.

• Background in family history is beneficial.

• A background check is required as a condition of employment.
