This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the technical authority for distributed CDN architecture, video distribution, IP media transport, and network recovery.

• Design and enhance a large-scale, geographically distributed terrestrial CDN to support satellite video distribution throughout the United States.

• Optimize last-mile bandwidth usage while upholding service levels and reducing operating costs.

• Establish CONOPS best practices for the terrestrial CDN and packet recovery network.

• Assess traffic engineering, capacity management, geographic distribution, and network efficiency strategies.

• Create mechanisms for dynamically scaling regional CDN capacity during peak demand, severe weather events, and widespread service outages.

• Develop capacity planning methodologies, performance thresholds, and operational activation protocols.

• Formulate strategies to balance network resources across regions based on forecasted demand.

• Implement packet-loss detection and recovery systems utilizing geographically diverse terrestrial IP networks and real-time video stream reconstruction.

• Set architecture standards for packet-loss detection, recovery orchestration, data transport, timing synchronization, monitoring, and reporting.

• Define performance objectives for recovery rates, latency, availability, and event reporting.

• Create network controls for visibility into utilization, performance, capacity, and customer behavior while maintaining customer autonomy.

• Establish operational thresholds, escalation protocols, and controls.

• Develop end-to-end test strategies and plans for laboratory settings, peak demand situations, and recovery scenarios.

• Evaluate commercial technology partners and their solution offerings.

• Ensure interoperability with customers' TAP, receiver, headend, and video distribution technologies.

• Create lifecycle management processes for the evolving video distribution architecture.

• Collaborate across functions to ensure integration and operational readiness while acting as a trusted advisor.

• Weigh performance, resilience, scalability, supportability, and cost in architectural decision-making.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10+ years of experience in designing, engineering, and/or operating large-scale video distribution and IP-based media transport networks.

• Extensive experience in designing and managing large, distributed Content Delivery Network (CDN) environments.

• Proven track record in designing and running carrier-grade video delivery architectures.

• Strong knowledge of terrestrial IP networking, distributed network architecture, traffic management, capacity planning, and network optimization.

• Demonstrated experience in optimizing last-mile bandwidth utilization and lowering network operating expenses.

• Experience in designing networks that can dynamically scale in response to extraordinary or unpredictable demand.

• Familiarity with developing Concept of Operations (CONOPS), operational controls, monitoring strategies, and network management processes for large-scale distributed networks.

• Experience with live and linear video delivery, packet recovery networks, ARQ, RIST-based transport, or media edge distribution architectures.

• Knowledge of hybrid satellite-terrestrial video distribution systems.

• Familiarity with Video Services Forum specifications, including VSF TR-06-4 Parts 6 & 7.

• Experience with satellite distribution, headends, earth stations, TAPs, receivers, or related video distribution infrastructure.

• Experience in selecting and managing technology vendors and external engineering partners.

• Demonstrated systems thinking with the ability to view hybrid video distribution as a complete ecosystem.

• Capability to link architecture and engineering decisions to broader business goals and strategic outcomes.

• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, capable of assessing competing technical approaches and providing timely, data-driven recommendations.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts and influence both technical and business stakeholders.

• Strong collaboration skills across engineering, operations, vendors, customers, and other stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Broadcast Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• Must be eligible to work without visa sponsorship or transfers.

• Must not require C2C engagement.
