This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Evaluate, analyze, and review both simple and complex secured and unsecured consumer loan applications.
• Approve, modify, counter, or deny consumer loan applications in accordance with credit union policies and lending authority.
• Ensure that all transactions are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulations.
• Verify the accuracy and truthfulness of required documentation.
• Implement fraud detection and prevention measures.
• Conduct analysis of paystubs and basic tax returns to assess repayment capability.
• Stay informed about state and federal credit union compliance laws, including bank secrecy, anti-money laundering, Fair Lending, and Truth in Lending regulations.
• Analyze credit reports and evaluate lending ratios, capacity, credit utilization, and loan-to-value metrics.
• Handle and initiate phone inquiries, communicating loan decisions to originators and external business partners.
• Resolve complaints or issues raised by members, internal staff, and business partners.
• Collect information and conduct analysis for reporting purposes.
• Assist in training originators on lending policies, processes, and procedures.
• Manage lending promotional campaigns.
• Recommend and help update consumer lending products, policies, procedures, and materials.
• Train staff on lending policies and procedures.
• Conduct upgrade validations for lending systems.
• Perform additional lending duties as assigned.
• Cultivate and strengthen relationships with members and both internal and external originators.
• Completion of a High School curriculum is mandatory.
• 4-7 years of experience in consumer lending within a judgmental lending environment utilizing a Loan Origination System, or 5+ years in loan processing.
• Strong analytical skills, organizational abilities, and attention to detail.
• Capability to calculate figures and amounts accurately.
• Proficient in using logical reasoning to interpret facts and make objective observations, evaluations, and recommendations.
• Awareness of key trends in the financial services sector affecting loan quality and underwriting.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of credit analysis and reporting practices.
• High level of integrity and judgment for making fair lending decisions.
• Comprehensive understanding of branch and indirect credit union lending policies.
• Ability to effectively sell and promote product lines while supporting lending decisions.
• Familiarity with automated loan origination systems.
• Proficient in standard Microsoft applications and various computer operations.
• Understanding of lending market conditions and collateral values in the assigned territory.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flexible, and production-oriented environment.
• Analytical skills to review and comprehend complex paystub and tax return documentation.
• Willingness to work required hours, which may include weekends and evenings past 6:00 p.m.
• Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Occasional travel may be necessary.
• Remote work opportunity available in California.
