Consultant Pharmacist – PRN

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Assess medication regimens for patients/clients in facilities to ensure suitable drug therapy.

• Supervise facility adherence to Federal and State regulations while identifying inconsistencies.

• Serve as a resource for information on medications and pharmacy regulations at both Federal and State levels.

• Act as a liaison between the pharmacy and the facility to address and resolve issues.

• Educate nursing staff on areas of concern within the facility and topics of interest to the staff.

• Participate in meetings related to the facility, pharmacy, infection control, quality assurance, and interdisciplinary teams.

• Examine physician orders for correct actions, dosages, potential drug interactions, administration methods, and stability.

• Aid in the training and supervision of pharmacy technicians, interns, and externs.

• Generate written reports detailing findings and recommendations for each monthly facility visit and distribute them to administrators, Directors of Nursing (DONs), and medical directors/physicians as appropriate.

• Maintain records for seizure and drug-related issues.

• Reconcile controlled substances and audit patient records.

• Carry out other essential functions and duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree in pharmacy is mandatory.

• A valid Pharmacist License is required.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred, ideally in long-term care (LTC) or high-volume pharmacy settings.

• Proficient computer skills; experience with pharmacy operations systems is essential.

• Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.

• Capable of resolving issues with minimal supervision.

• Strong attention to detail and precision is necessary.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while managing multiple tasks and adhering to tight deadlines.

• Quality-oriented; driven to identify errors and ask questions when discrepancies arise.

• Willingness to work flexible hours.

• Up to 90% travel is required.
