Consultant for Curriculum Development – Ophthalmology Foundation Accreditation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Peru.

📋 Description

• Review, revise, document, and assist in the implementation of a sustainable, competency-based ophthalmic training curriculum for IRO.

• Incorporate simulation, wet lab activities, clinical education, surgical training equipment, Artificial Intelligence tools, and Virtual Reality settings into the curriculum.

• Establish competencies, learning objectives, activities, expected outcomes, and assessment methods for residency levels and key subspecialties.

• Create content, educational materials, and guidelines for Training Center equipment and resources.

• Suggest monitoring tools, indicators, sustainability recommendations, faculty engagement strategies, and institutional ownership plans.

• Review IRO documentation in relation to Ophthalmology Foundation accreditation requirements and identify any gaps.

• Complete, update, organize, and consolidate documentation necessary for IRO’s accreditation application.

• Prepare an inception report and work plan that includes curriculum assessment, gap analysis, schedules, and documentation requirements.

• Produce the final consolidated curriculum development package along with an implementation roadmap.

• Generate the final consolidated Ophthalmology Foundation accreditation package, requirements matrix, checklist, and maintenance recommendations.

• Collaborate with the Orbis Peru Program Director, LAD Project Manager, IRO stakeholders, Orbis teams, and partners.

• Maintain biweekly technical coordination with Dr. Eduardo Mayorga.

• Independently plan and carry out consultancy work while adhering to agreed-upon deliverable deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional degree in Medicine, Public Health, Education, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience in teaching and residency training.

• Background in developing, updating, or executing medical education curricula or training programs.

• Experience in academic program management.

• Familiarity with competency-based education, simulation, wet lab, or clinical/surgical training is preferred.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple deliverables concurrently, and meet deadlines in a multicultural, multi-partner setting.

• Capacity to provide services as an independent contractor and comply with any registration requirements mandated by Peruvian law.

🏝️ Benefits

• Payment will be made in two disbursements: 50% upon delivery of the initial deliverable and 50% upon satisfactory completion and acceptance of the final deliverable.

• Authorized travel within Peru will be reimbursed or coordinated per Orbis travel policy for consultants.

• Flexible scheduling; the Consultant may arrange their own working hours.

• The Consultant is not required to adhere to Orbis office hours.

• Professional autonomy in choosing methodology, tools, and scheduling.

• No office space, equipment, or fixed working hours are required from Orbis.
