Community Pharmacy Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Deliver daily guidance and support to assigned pharmacists and technicians.

• Assist the Community Pharmacy Team Manager with workflow management, staffing alignment, work queues, service levels, and task completion.

• Act as the initial point of escalation for issues related to workflow, patient care, documentation, dispensing support, and client-specific concerns.

• Prioritize operational requests such as urgent, same-day, next-business-day, cycle-fill, and others.

• Aid in resolving barriers related to medication access, prescription processing, documentation, and patient care.

• Track team productivity, quality, timeliness, and compliance metrics.

• Contribute to onboarding, training, coaching, and development of staff.

• Supervise same-day technician pre-check and pharmacist verification queues.

• Support activities related to ATM dispensing, Community Pharmacy Network transfers, medication procurement, billing, insurance, and processing.

• Maintain accurate patient medication profiles and care documentation.

• Review medication inquiries, escalations, requests, changes, and clinical information.

• Assist pharmacists in identifying medication-related issues and providing recommendations.

• Support the review of medication profiles, cycle-fills, medication review preparation, counseling, education, and clinical clarification.

• Engage in prospective drug utilization reviews and provide assigned on-call or after-hours support.

• Monitor compliance, quality standards, documentation, dispensing support, and pharmacy practice expectations.

• Investigate and address concerns related to quality assurance, HIPAA, fraud, waste, abuse, and medication access.

• Generate reports, feedback, and analysis for the Community Pharmacy Team Manager.

• Collaborate with operations, clinical leadership, account management, IT, software development, fulfillment, and other stakeholders.

• Participate in process improvement initiatives, staff education, workflow redesign, and the implementation of new procedures or technologies.

• Communicate effectively with pharmacists, technicians, clients, prescribers, patients, caregivers, community pharmacies, and internal departments.

• Elevate urgent or high-risk issues and foster collaboration between pharmacists and technicians.

• Execute other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• PharmD degree required.

• BCGP certification required.

• Must possess a current, active license in the state of New Jersey.

• Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire is mandatory.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in pharmacy operations, clinical pharmacy, geriatric pharmacy, PACE, long-term care, community pharmacy, or related healthcare fields.

• Prior experience in providing daily team guidance, coordinating workflows, training, mentoring, or informal leadership is essential.

• Background in a call center, centralized pharmacy, clinical operations, medication management, or a high-volume pharmacy environment is preferred.

• Experience with quality assurance, documentation review, performance improvement, and staff coaching is required.

• Familiarity with geriatric patients, medically complex populations, or interdisciplinary care teams is beneficial.

• Proficient in internal pharmacy systems, EHR platforms, pharmacy dispensing systems, clinical decision support tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong skills in MS Office Suite are necessary.

• Excellent technical and computer skills for proprietary and pharmacy software are required.

• Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and project management capabilities are essential.

• Exceptional data entry skills are necessary.

• Strong analytical skills, clinical judgment, and decision-making abilities are required.

• Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations, including HIPAA and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse, is essential.

• Ability to work with urgency, effectively multitask, and meet deadlines without compromising quality is crucial.

• High degree of integrity is required.

• Must be quality-oriented, innovative, and steadfast.

• Availability for shifts from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM ET, Monday through Friday.

• Expected to work an average of 40 hours per week, with availability outside normal business hours on an ad-hoc basis.

• Participation in a rotating weekly on-call oversight schedule is required.
