This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot communication infrastructure both underground and on the surface within the Mining, Processing, and Maintenance Departments.
• Execute tasks assigned by the Electrical Supervisor.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Mining Department.
• Assist in the commissioning and start-up processes for new installations.
• Act as a technical reference and mentor for junior staff.
• Implement minor changes to software, hardware, and graphic interfaces according to site procedures.
• Collaborate with supervisors and vendors to devise solutions for complex communication issues.
• Help develop operational and functional procedures for the assigned systems.
• Complete and distribute necessary reports punctually.
• Conduct planned weekly and monthly maintenance.
• Operate an Integrated Tool Carrier/Front End Loader.
• Carry out safety activities in accordance with company policies and MSHA requirements, which include hazard identification, pre-start checks, meetings, and incident reporting.
• Uphold housekeeping standards in all work areas.
• Significant qualifications and experience with mining communication hardware and software applications.
• A valid driver's license.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in the mining sector.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and programming 2-way radios.
• Familiarity with vehicle proximity systems.
• Experience with Citect SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of Schneider control systems.
• Experience with satellite television and digital systems.
• Familiarity with Motorola TRBONET Digital Radio System.
• Experience using VHF and UHF communication systems, including leaky feeders.
• Experience in planning and configuring IP networks.
• Familiarity with microwave and/or satellite communications links.
• Proficient in troubleshooting complex electronic circuits.
• Skilled in using wattmeters, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, OTDRs, fusion splicers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
• Experience terminating Cat5, RJ11, coax, fiber, and D-Shell connectors.
• Competence in computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Micromine.
• Understanding of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act and Regulations.
• Ability to pass a background check and post-offer physical examination.
• Strong communication skills.
• High-level planning and organizational capabilities.
• Flexibility to adapt to enhanced procedures and practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and apply analytical problem-solving skills.
• Capacity to work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and perform well under pressure.
• 21 days on, 21 days off rotating schedule.
