This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Create strategic communications to support the trade enforcement mission of Customs and Border Protection.
• Partner with technical staff to simplify complex concepts and technical terminology for general audiences.
• Design and produce both print and digital content for various internal and external stakeholders.
• Draft, edit, and refine presentations, talking points, and other relevant documents.
• Prepare, edit, and adjust materials for external outreach events.
• Carry out rapid communications tasks for senior leadership.
• Handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Formulate and implement communications plans for particular initiatives.
• Write, edit, and plan content while adhering to deadlines.
• Follow style guides and federal plain-language standards.
• Organize, schedule, and lead meetings through in-person sessions, MS Teams, Webex, and other platforms.
• Collaborate with a distributed team in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
• A Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
• Over 7 years of relevant experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Current DHS U.S. Customs and Border Protection BI Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
• Previous security clearance is preferred.
• Strong editorial communication skills, including exceptional writing, editing, and content creation capabilities.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while showing accountability and ownership.
• Capability to deliver high-quality work products.
• Experience in the government sector.
• Extensive background in writing and editing for publication under tight deadlines.
• Proficient in developing content for both print and digital mediums.
• Familiarity with standard office software, including the MS Office suite and SharePoint.
• Knowledge of style guides, AP Stylebook, and federal plain-language regulations.
• Comfort in working remotely as part of a distributed team.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
• Core working hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.
• Willingness to travel to Ashburn, Virginia, for quarterly onsite client meetings if necessary.
