This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the execution of Oweesta's communications strategy across various platforms, including digital, print, email, social media, and websites.
• Create and schedule content for social media channels, newsletters, websites, publications, and marketing initiatives.
• Keep editorial calendars up to date and help plan communications campaigns and projects.
• Aid in the creation of written, visual, and digital content specifically designed for diverse audiences.
• Support the gathering, organization, and development of stories that showcase the impact of Native CDFIs, lending activities, borrower achievements, community development, and Native economic empowerment.
• Oversee website updates to ensure that content is accurate, current, and engaging.
• Assist in the creation and dissemination of newsletters, email campaigns, press releases, and other communication materials.
• Provide support for communications related to conferences, trainings, webinars, and events, including the preparation of promotional materials and content collection.
• Coordinate activities related to photography, video, and digital asset management.
• Ensure brand consistency across all communication materials and platforms.
• Track social media engagement, website analytics, and communication metrics, and offer regular reports.
• Support the development of annual reports, impact reports, publications, and other organizational communication projects.
• Assist with media monitoring, communications research, and special projects as assigned.
• Collaborate with staff across various departments to identify and share stories, achievements, and the organization’s overall impact.
• A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience is preferred.
• At least two (2) years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, journalism, or a related field.
• Preferred experience working with Native organizations, Tribal Nations, Native CDFIs, Indigenous communities, or Indigenous-serving organizations.
• Proven experience in developing content for social media, websites, newsletters, and digital communication platforms.
• Experience in storytelling, content creation, and community engagement.
• Background in supporting conferences, trainings, webinars, or events.
• Preferred experience with nonprofit, community development, economic development, financial services, philanthropy, or mission-driven organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Capability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a remote work environment.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
• Creative and enthusiastic approach to storytelling and content development.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices for digital communications.
• Some understanding of the complexities and challenges of community development finance, housing, and small business development in Native communities.
• Ability to effectively engage with diverse constituents and multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
