This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

đź“‹ Description

• Serve as the Owner’s primary representative for commissioning on the project, delivering independent and objective oversight of the design team, general contractor, startup contractors, and third-party CxA.

• Uphold the Owner’s commissioning standards, OPR, and program requirements; integrate Owner expectations into the commissioning process from design through to turnover.

• Proactively identify potential issues early in the process and propose innovative solutions to ensure milestone schedules are met.

• Review and authorize the commissioning plan, testing plans, test scripts (IVC, FPT, IST), schedules, and turnover documentation created by the CxA and contractors prior to execution and Owner acceptance.

• Engage in design and submittal reviews (L0–L1) to ensure commissioning feasibility and that Owner requirements are accurately reflected in the design.

• Observe and independently verify installation verification (L2), energization and startup (L3), functional performance testing (L4), and integrated systems testing (L5); confirm results against acceptance criteria.

• Assess the technical adequacy of testing personally, including the sequence of operations, failure-mode scenarios, system interactions, and reject any incomplete or non-conforming work.

• Monitor commissioning progress, deficiencies, and risks in relation to project milestones; escalate issues to Owner leadership and facilitate resolution and retesting verification.

• Advocate for the Owner’s commissioning interests during project meetings, ensuring uptime, quality, and schedule are maintained across the owner–contractor–engineer dynamic.

• Confirm the closeout of deficiencies, as-commissioned documentation, systems manuals, and operator training prior to recommending Owner acceptance and turnover to operations (L6).

• Ensure field commissioning adheres to NFPA 70E electrical safe work practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and job-hazard analysis discipline.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of relevant experience.

• Relevant experience includes project management, construction management, outage management, maintenance management, reliability engineering, or commissioning in critical infrastructure, power generation, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or similar industries.

• Military technical backgrounds are acceptable.

• Direct commissioning experience is required.

• Experience in high-consequence fields such as power generation, petrochemical/process, pharmaceutical validation, healthcare facilities, or U.S. military technical and nuclear programs is advantageous due to the foundational knowledge of underlying systems and consequence management.

• A B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical degree, or vocational/trade certification in a relevant field, or equivalent hands-on experience will be considered and may substitute for formal education requirements.

• Preferred commissioning certification includes ACG CxA, BCxP, or CCP (this role possesses independent technical authority on behalf of the Owner).

• NFPA 70E and OSHA 30 certifications are required or candidates must be able to complete them (training will be provided internally at GAI for candidates who do not possess them at hire).

• PMP and Uptime Institute ATD/ATF certifications are preferred.

• A valid driver’s license is required.
