Commercial Counsel, LATAM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Take charge of drafting and negotiating contracts across various business sectors while providing comprehensive risk assessments and recommendations to boost business value and minimize risks throughout the organization.

• Collaborate with cross-functional and regional teams to offer support on a diverse array of transactional issues.

• Proactively keep abreast of current legislation, including data privacy and protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PDPA).

• Deliver forward-thinking, in-depth, business-oriented advice and guidance on commercial and data privacy topics.

• Oversee legal initiatives in response to company-related matters, such as data breach events and regulatory inquiries, and lead external communications regarding legal concerns.

• Recognize changes in legal frameworks, including privacy regulations, and ensure a consistent approach to legal matters among internal stakeholders.

• Provide counsel on data privacy impact assessments, requests from data subjects, and international data transfers.

• Take calculated risks within the broader business context, offering advice and implementing solutions to tackle commercial and privacy-related challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Licensed attorney with 5-8 years of pertinent legal experience at a distinguished international law firm or in an in-house legal department.

• Familiarity with technology contracts, e-commerce, fintech or payment systems, and compliance with data privacy regulations.

• Strong collaborator with a keen business acumen.

• Possesses robust legal technical knowledge and sound judgment in commercial and data privacy law matters.

• Proactive and capable of independently managing complex projects, including privacy compliance initiatives.

• Exceptional legal drafting and interpretation abilities.
