Cobol/IDMS Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and provide maintenance for a diverse array of applications

• Offer support within the database environment for a U.S. Government client

• Ensure that requirements align with client needs and government standards through established verification methods

• Convert high-level product development strategies into detailed system requirements specifications

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to create comprehensive implementation requirements

• Set and manage standards, practices, and procedures associated with product development

• Design interfaces and integrate various system elements

• Evaluate system performance based on assessment criteria and technical performance metrics

• Serve as a customer liaison and assist in business development initiatives

• Engage in system conceptual design and document design concepts

• Participate in hardware and software design evaluations

• Formulate system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance testing protocols

• Examine test plans and procedures while taking part in testing activities

• Modify current databases and database management systems or oversee necessary changes

• Develop and code both logical and physical database descriptions and define database identifiers

• Coordinate database development efforts as part of a project team

• Identify project scope, requirements, and constraints

• Assess database project requests and provide estimates for completion time and costs

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline

• A minimum of 4 years of experience with IBM z/OS mainframe technologies, including COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, TSO/ISPF, and Endevor

• Proficient understanding of IDMS and ADSO (Application Development System Online)

• Capability to design, code, and test software according to specified requirements

• Fundamental knowledge of the complete software development lifecycle, encompassing business/systems analysis, requirements gathering, functional specification development, coding, testing, and delivery

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies is advantageous

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills

• Must be a U.S. Citizen (no dual citizenship permitted)

• Eligible to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance

• Must have resided in the United States for the last 5 years

• Cannot have exceeded 6 months of travel outside the United States in the past 5 years; military service is excluded
