Co-Managing Director, Asia Ocean Fund

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Singapore.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the strategic formulation and enhancement of the fund’s investment thesis, pinpointing key sectors, innovative technologies, and high-potential opportunities within the blue economy.

• Develop and sustain a robust investment pipeline throughout the Asia Pacific region by leveraging regional connections and global alliances.

• Provide leadership throughout the entire investment cycle, encompassing sourcing, screening, due diligence, structuring, investment committee presentations, and exit strategies.

• Ensure the fund upholds rigorous investment discipline, balancing financial outcomes with impact integrity.

• Continuously track market trends, policy changes, and technological advancements relevant to ocean and maritime industries.

• Direct and manage due diligence processes, including commercial, financial, technical, legal, and impact evaluations.

• Structure and negotiate investment agreements, collaborating closely with legal and financial advisors.

• Act as a board director or observer for portfolio companies, aiding in governance, strategy, and growth initiatives.

• Collaborate with founders and management teams to enhance value creation and scaling, including international market expansion, partnerships, and follow-on financing.

• Monitor portfolio performance and implement proactive portfolio management and exit strategies.

• Take a leading role in fundraising efforts, engaging with institutional investors, family offices, foundations, and development finance institutions.

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Limited Partners, ensuring clear communication and reporting.

• Engage in investor meetings, roadshows, and industry events to position the fund as a premier blue economy investment vehicle in Asia.

• Build strategic partnerships with founders, corporations, research institutions, accelerators, and co-investors within the ocean and maritime innovation ecosystem.

• Enhance collaboration with OCTAVE Capital and Katapult Ocean’s platforms to access international and regional deal flow and expertise.

• Contribute to the advancement of the Asia Pacific blue economy ecosystem, establishing the fund as a thought leader and trusted investment partner.

• Provide leadership and mentorship to the investment team, nurturing a high-performance and collaborative environment.

• Oversee internal investment processes, governance, and operational coordination.

• Contribute to the development of the fund’s accelerator program and Technical Assistance Facility, ensuring they effectively support the investment pipeline and portfolio companies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Seasoned professional in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or similar investment roles.

• Proven track record of leading investments and serving on corporate boards, including successful portfolio results.

• Experience in investing within the blue economy, maritime, climate, or sustainability-related fields is highly preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of venture investing, financial analysis, valuation techniques, and transaction structuring.

• Established experience in due diligence across financial, legal, operational, and strategic aspects.

• Background in investing in or collaborating with companies in Asia Pacific or other emerging markets.

• Strong track record in impact investing, with familiarity in impact measurement frameworks and systems-level approaches to environmental and social outcomes.

• Ability to integrate strategic vision with stringent financial discipline.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of effectively engaging with senior executives, investors, and investment committees.
