Cloud Platform Architect – OpenStack, VMware

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Architect and enhance multi-tenant platforms utilizing OpenStack and VMware.

• Design architectures for data centers, networks, and security, including backbone networks, firewalls, and segmentation.

• Integrate and design components for network, security, storage, and compute.

• Develop and sustain platform blueprints, operational concepts, and scaling models.

• Conduct sizing and capacity planning for compute, storage, and network resources.

• Create new cloud services and contribute to the development of the service portfolio.

• Conduct technical assessments of new technologies to determine their suitability for platform deployment.

• Assist in pre-sales activities that involve architecture design, capacity planning, and effort estimation, which will account for approximately 10–15% of working time.

• Generate and uphold architecture documentation, standards, and guidelines.

• Act as a technical sparring partner for engineers, consultants, and team leads.

• Take part in the team’s on-call rotation.

• Extensive knowledge of OpenStack and VMware.

• Proven experience with data center, network, and security architectures.

• Familiarity with backbone networks, firewalls, and network segmentation.

• Experience with network, security, storage, and compute components.

• Background in creating platform blueprints, operational concepts, and scaling models.

• Proficient in sizing and capacity planning for compute, storage, and network resources.

• Experience in designing cloud services and technical platform architectures.

• Ability to technically assess and evaluate new technologies.

• Experience in architecture design, capacity planning, and effort estimation.

• Willingness to participate in the team’s on-call rotation.
