Cloud Engineer – Tech Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and enhance the Cloud & Backend roadmap.

• Convert the engineering vision into actionable priorities, trade-offs, and subsequent steps.

• Facilitate cross-team architectural decisions, ensuring they are documented and adhered to.

• Set up shared technical standards and guidelines.

• Collaborate directly with engineers on AWS and Terraform.

• Evaluate designs and pull requests, challenging technical decisions.

• Mentor and pair with engineers.

• Promote knowledge sharing and support the development of seniority and ownership.

• Work alongside product owners, QA, engineering leadership, and colleagues in Japan.

• Balance technical direction with considerations for product, regulatory, security, and cost factors.

• Enhance automated infrastructure, safer deployments, and improved observability without a complete rewrite.

• Lead through influence across Connect engineering teams while modernizing an active healthcare platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in cloud/backend engineering.

• At least 2 years in a technical leadership position, such as tech lead, staff engineer, or principal engineer.

• Proven experience in aligning multiple individuals or teams around a technical direction and decisions.

• Hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).

• Experience in reviewing designs and pull requests.

• Familiarity with serverless and event-driven architectures is advantageous.

• Experience with serverless AWS and Node.js/TypeScript technology stacks.

• Ability to articulate technical choices and their trade-offs to engineers, product owners, QA, and other stakeholders.

• Background in coaching, pairing, reviewing, and knowledge sharing.

• Understanding of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

• Willingness to work in a Holacratic organization.

• Proficiency in English.

• Must currently reside and work in The Netherlands.
