Cloud Engineer, Level 3

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of AWS GovCloud and Azure GCC High cloud environments.

• Offer suggestions regarding network and security best practices.

• Operate within an Agile DevSecOps environment while collaborating with remote teams.

• Implement and maintain Continuous Delivery pipelines and cloud-based solutions.

• Work alongside functional business units to comprehend requirements and facilitate solution development.

• Identify dependencies, technical needs, technological risks, and operational risks.

• Aid in creating practical solutions that support business processes.

• Develop and sustain technical documentation for cloud-based system integration and implementation.

• Assist with infrastructure sizing, capacity planning, and requirement analysis for cloud infrastructure, networking, and security solutions.

• Contribute to projects and initiatives while leading assigned technical tasks or workstreams.

• Coordinate technical issues with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Engage in cloud technology planning, requirements gathering, and enterprise cloud solution development.

• Employ a security-first mindset to fulfill company, program, and customer compliance requirements, including CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, and SOX.

• Conduct research and create Proofs of Concept (POCs) for emerging technologies.

• Keep up-to-date with cloud technologies, services, and industry best practices while recommending enhancements for cloud capabilities and operational efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; no experience required with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience.

• Proven experience working with remote and geographically distributed teams.

• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing Terraform.

• Familiarity with automated configuration management and compliance tools such as Ansible Automation Platform or Salt.

• Experience supporting AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.

• Proficient in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.

• Experience with version control systems, including Git.

• Experience in supporting and maintaining Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Ubuntu environments.

• Experienced in working within Agile development teams.

• Knowledge of identity and access management solutions, including Active Directory, Okta, Entra ID, and AWS IAM.

• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, EKS, or Podman.

• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools and platforms such as GitLab and JFrog.

• Skilled in implementing and supporting API, webhook, and event-driven integrations across enterprise platforms.

• Understanding of NIST 800-171 and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements.

• Preferred: experience with multi-cloud environments encompassing AWS and Azure.

• Preferred: experience with DevSecOps tools, practices, and automation.

• Preferred: experience with API and integration design.

• Preferred: cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate, or similar.
