This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the technical strategy for database engineering, maintenance, and the cloud migration of both relational and non-relational databases.

• Design solutions for high availability and disaster recovery within database architecture to achieve 99.99% uptime.

• Engage in platform architecture, backup and recovery processes, disaster recovery, and support for multi-AZ and multi-region databases.

• Automate database operations to minimize manual tasks.

• Revamp database designs and implementations to enhance reliability, resilience, and scalability.

• Collaborate with engineers from various teams to implement both short- and long-term technical strategies.

• Conduct root-cause analyses, remediation, and documentation to reduce incidents.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience as a backend engineer.

• A Bachelor's degree or an advanced degree without relevant experience.

• Alternatively, 5+ years of relevant experience may be accepted in place of a degree.

• Familiarity with cloud-native databases, particularly AWS.

• Knowledge of transactional RDBMS such as AWS Aurora, AWS RDS MySQL, Percona MySQL, Postgres, and DynamoDB.

• Experience in cloud-based high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and orchestration tools like Ansible, Terraform, SpaceLift, AWS Step Functions, and CloudFormation.

• A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work across functions.

• Experience in payments or within the FinTech sector is a plus.
