Cloud Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and performance optimization.

• Installation & Configuration: Execute installation, configuration, and patching tasks.

• Backup & Recovery: Develop and uphold strategies for backup and recovery to maintain data integrity and accessibility.

• High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Supervise and enhance current HA/DR solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups) and support their deployment.

• Security Management: Oversee logins, users, roles, permissions, ensuring adherence to security protocols.

• Troubleshooting & Support: Identify and rectify database-related problems, offering assistance to application teams and vendors, and engaging in incident resolution.

• Documentation: Ensure thorough and clear documentation for database systems and procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least a High School diploma or GED.

• 1-3 years of experience in Information Technology.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Google Certifications are advantageous.

• Licenses or Certifications: Relevant Vendor DBA Certifications for the specific DBMS.

• Work Experience: Familiarity with the health insurance sector.

• 3 to 5+ years of Database Management experience: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with GCP database services, including Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL), Cloud Spanner, and AlloyDB Cloud.

• Proficient in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with knowledge of its services and best practices.

• Experience with other cloud platforms such as AWS is beneficial.

• Expertise in Terraform, including experience with custom Terraform providers, modules, and state management.

• Previous experience utilizing Git for source code management, branching strategies, and collaborative development.

• Practical experience with the Google Cloud CLI and SDK for automation, scripting, and resource management.

• Experience in Python programming, particularly focused on cloud-native application development and automation.
