This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist office personnel, physicians, and management with clinical, clerical, and organizational tasks related to patient care.
• Arrange patient appointments, including procedures, follow-up visits, ancillary services, and endoscopy procedures.
• Collect accurate patient information and synchronize scheduling with physicians and the endoscopy center.
• Handle and respond to requests from the Patient Portal.
• Triage incoming phone calls and manage assigned tasks.
• Address or escalate patient concerns, including test results, prescription refills, and general healthcare inquiries.
• Organize lab and radiology procedures and relay results with provider approval.
• Prepare requests for prescription refills for physician endorsement.
• Provide guidance to patients and their families regarding medical treatments or procedures as necessary.
• Respond to emails and voicemails, returning patient calls in a timely manner.
• Complete information requests from AGA staff to facilitate payment on patient accounts.
• Uphold HIPAA compliance and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Participate in staff meetings and marketing initiatives as directed.
• Engage in cross-training to handle phone triage, scheduling, pre-certification, document filing, referrals, and management of medical records.
• Achieve department performance standards, including addressing tasks within 24–48 hours, remaining accessible in the call queue, and maintaining a minimum monitoring score of 90%.
• Report directly to the Senior Manager, Patient Service Center.
• Execute other duties and special projects as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2-3 years of experience in a specialty clinical setting is required.
• Experience in gastroenterology is preferred.
• Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Proficiency in computer operations is essential.
• Capable of using healthcare systems and various Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to interact courteously and respectfully with patients, visitors, co-workers, and physicians.
• Exhibit a professional, outgoing, warm, and helpful demeanor.
• Show compassion when assisting those who are ill and in need of help.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple delegated tasks effectively.
• Capable of working under pressure and assessing, responding to, and communicating issues promptly.
• Communicate clearly with patients and colleagues via telephone, email, and in person.
• Ability to interpret and apply both clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures.
• Capability to sit and stand in a typical office environment.
• Willingness to travel as required by business needs.
