This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist office personnel, physicians, and management with clinical, administrative, and organizational tasks related to patient care.
• Coordinate patient appointments, procedures, follow-up visits, ancillary services, and endoscopy procedures through telephone or electronic communication.
• Collect accurate patient information and oversee scheduling for physicians and the endoscopy center.
• Address, resolve, or escalate requests from the patient portal and any patient-related concerns.
• Manage and prioritize incoming phone calls and tasks assigned.
• Handle patient inquiries regarding test results, prescription refills, and general healthcare queries.
• Schedule and acquire results for laboratory or radiology procedures, communicating them with provider endorsement.
• Prepare requests for prescription refills for physician approval.
• Provide patients and their families with information pertaining to medical treatments and procedures.
• Respond to emails and voicemails, ensuring prompt return of patient calls.
• Process information requests made by AGA staff.
• Uphold HIPAA compliance and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Participate in staff meetings and marketing initiatives as directed.
• Engage in cross-training to perform phone triage, scheduling, pre-certification, document filing, referrals, and medical records management.
• Achieve department performance standards, which include addressing tasks within 24–48 hours, staying available in the call queue, and maintaining a minimum monitoring score of 90%.
• Report directly to the Senior Manager of the Patient Service Center.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2-3 years of experience in a specialty clinical setting is required.
• Experience in gastroenterology is preferred.
• Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Proficiency in computer usage is essential.
• Ability to utilize healthcare systems and various Microsoft Office applications.
• Capability to interact with patients, visitors, colleagues, and physicians with courtesy and respect.
• Compassionate approach when dealing with individuals who are ill and in need of assistance.
• Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Capacity to work under pressure and communicate issues promptly.
• Skill in communicating clearly with patients and coworkers via telephone, email, and in person.
• Ability to interpret and apply both clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures.
• Capability to sit and stand in a standard office environment.
• Full-time employment.
• Travel as required for business needs.
