This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Oversee the creation, coordination, implementation, and assessment of nursing and clinical education programs.
• Assess educational needs through collaboration, performance metrics, survey results, evidence-based practices, and updates in regulations.
• Develop and lead staff in-services, clinical competency training, onboarding processes, continuing education, patient education, and specialized program training.
• Act as a clinical education resource, serving as a role model, coach, and facilitator for nursing personnel.
• Create and manage education schedules, training resources, competency assessment tools, onboarding materials, survey preparation resources, and clinical practice guidelines.
• Assess the effectiveness of educational programs through feedback, participation statistics, competency assessments, clinical outcomes, quality measures, and stakeholder input.
• Offer education to patients and their families through surgical preparation classes and throughout their hospital stay.
• Organize activities for the Total Joint and Spine program to ensure compliance with clinical, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Maintain contact with patients pre- and post-discharge to identify needs, eliminate obstacles, reinforce education, and support recovery outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, care management, therapy, anesthesia, perioperative services, clinics, post-acute providers, quality teams, and leadership.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on quality metrics, patient outcomes, readmissions, complications, service excellence, length of stay, and performance measures.
• Conduct chart reviews, audits, data tracking, trend analysis, surveys, and reporting; prepare report cards and program documentation.
• Investigate best practices and initiate or recommend continuous quality improvement efforts.
• Work with the EPIC team on electronic health record reporting, workflow adjustments, clinical applications, documentation, and data collection.
• Create materials and participate in Total Joint and Spine Committee meetings.
• Engage in survey preparation, follow-up actions, and TJC Disease Specific Certification processes.
• Maintain clinical proficiency while integrating ethical standards, safety, effectiveness, cost considerations, and quality into education and care coordination.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.
• Valid Texas RN license.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing is mandatory.
• At least five years of clinical experience as an RN in an acute care or comparable clinical environment.
• Experience in developing, delivering, or supporting clinical education, staff development, onboarding, competency validation, or professional growth activities.
• Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems like EPIC.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required when relevant to assigned educational responsibilities.
• In-depth knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design, clinical education program development, competency validation, and educational outcome evaluation.
• Excellent facilitation and presentation abilities, including PowerPoint presentations, staff education, patient education, in-services, and professional development initiatives.
• Capability to evaluate educational needs and translate evidence-based practices and regulatory standards into actionable education.
• Awareness of contemporary nursing practices, acute-care clinical pathways, orthopedic and spine patient care, and healthcare trends.
• Understanding of CMS, PRO-PM, Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification standards, performance metrics, and regulatory or accreditation requirements.
• Ability to aggregate, analyze, interpret, and present data using spreadsheets, database software, electronic medical records, and reporting tools.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, collaboration, coaching, facilitation, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Capacity to operate professionally, advocate for patients and families, promote staff accountability, work independently, demonstrate initiative, and adapt to evolving requirements.
• ACLS/BCLS instructor certification, quality improvement experience, and background in orthopedic/spine clinical settings are preferred.
