This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Take part in a structured educational internship aimed at providing practical learning and professional growth in community-focused lawyering and advocacy.
• Engage in initiatives that prioritize skill enhancement over routine administrative tasks.
• Intern responsibilities may involve conducting legal and factual research, observing and contributing to advocacy strategy formation, and attending meetings with community leaders and civil society collaborators.
• Collaborate closely with the CREJP team and other attorneys from EarthRights International as part of a guided learning experience that aligns with their academic studies and professional aspirations.
• A proven dedication to utilizing the U.S. legal system to empower frontline communities and/or support environmental justice initiatives.
• Exceptional legal research and writing abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to work effectively in teams and coalitions.
• Capability to manage sensitive client relationships while ensuring the confidentiality of our work and communications.
• A background or experience in environmental law, civil rights law, corporate accountability, and/or Indigenous peoples' rights.
• Experience collaborating with environmental justice communities, Indigenous communities, or grassroots organizations.
• Ability to think independently and creatively.
• A positive mindset.
• Unpaid position.
• Course credit or stipend through school is available.
