This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +3 more states.
• Assist the Civil Site Works Commodity Manager with civil pre-construction activities, sourcing, and contractor oversight for GE Vernova projects throughout North America.
• Create a competitive bidding atmosphere for civil scopes, encompassing earthworks, foundations, grading, utilities, roads, drainage, and substation/site development.
• Prepare RFQ packages and assess contractor proposals, including quantities, assumptions, exclusions, and construction methodologies.
• Aid in the evaluation, selection, qualification, development, and management of contractors.
• Participate in weekly and monthly contractor status calls, documenting detailed meeting minutes.
• Deliver consolidated civil project status reports to the Civil Site Works Commodity Manager.
• Work in collaboration with engineering, project management, EHS, and construction teams on RFIs and technical clarifications.
• Coordinate with contract managers regarding contractor terms, scopes, flowdowns, and risk management.
• Assist in negotiating contractor pricing, terms, NDAs/MNDAs, MSAs, and agreements specific to projects.
• Monitor supplier and contractor KPIs, including Deflation, DTP, Quality, Compliance, and OTD.
• Facilitate the sourcing and qualification of certified minority-owned, veteran-owned, women-owned, and small civil contractors.
• Manage civil contractor documentation, drawings, RFIs, and commercial packages within electronic databases.
• Support contractor onboarding and ensure adherence to sourcing and EHS policies.
• Organize and engage in occasional on-site contractor audits.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 3 years of experience in major construction or infrastructure projects focusing on civil, structural, or site development work.
• A minimum of 3 years in civil pre-construction, estimating, or commercial bid analysis.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally for up to 20% of the time.
• Legal authorization to work in both the U.S. and Canada.
• Strong grasp of civil construction means and methods, including excavation, concrete work, utilities, foundations, and road construction.
• Proven project management capabilities with experience in handling multiple civil bid packages and deadlines.
• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
• Demonstrated aptitude in negotiating with civil subcontractors.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and commercial evaluation skills.
• Ability to drive sourcing initiatives within a matrixed organization.
• Detail-oriented and organized, with a capacity to maintain precise documentation and contractor records.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for this position.
