This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Execute comprehensive civil and OSP design tasks, which include the layout of underground conduit pathways.
• Design trenching and duct banks.
• Determine the placement of manholes and handholes.
• Coordinate utilities within public Right-of-Way (ROW).
• Create and sustain plan and profile drawings, alignments, and surfaces utilizing Civil 3D software.
• Implement client-specific standards, templates, and engineering criteria for all design outputs.
• Collaborate with project managers, survey teams, and designers to address design inputs and constraints.
• Integrate feedback from municipal, DOT, and permitting agencies into updated design packages.
• Conduct formal QA/QC evaluations of civil and OSP design packages generated internally or by third-party designers.
• Ensure adherence to client standards, design criteria, local jurisdictional regulations, and relevant industry codes and practices.
• Detect design discrepancies, absent information, or constructability issues.
• Document precise, actionable QC remarks using Bluebeam and structured comment logs.
• Confirm the resolution of QC comments before submission.
• Assist Project Managers by monitoring design review cycles, revisions, and readiness for submission.
• Maintain QC checklists and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of design quality processes.
• Recognize recurring design problems and suggest upstream corrections or updates to standards.
• Employ digital workflow tools (e.g., Smartsheet, trackers, dashboards) to ensure visibility into design status and workload.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience in Civil/OSP design).
• A minimum of 2 years of direct civil-OSP design experience, including conduit or linear infrastructure, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D in a production setting.
• Experience in conducting technical QA/QC reviews of design drawings.
• Practical knowledge of underground conduit systems, ROW design constraints, and utility coordination principles.
• Strong written communication abilities with the capability to provide clear technical feedback.
• Capacity to work independently in a remote, multi-project environment.
• Experience in telecommunications or OSP-specific civil design.
• Familiarity with designing for municipal ROW, DOT, or public infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in Bluebeam for design review and redlining.
• Background in supporting permitting processes or addressing agency comments.
