Citrix Platform Engineer – AWS, DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain Citrix platform solutions hosted on AWS.

• Take ownership of technical activities from requirements analysis and technical design through to implementation, testing, production deployment, and validation.

• Convert business and technical requirements into automated and sustainable platform solutions.

• Engineer, optimize, and maintain Citrix Cloud / DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments.

• Manage persistent and non-persistent VDI environments, including Machine Creation Services (MCS).

• Construct and sustain automated Gold Image lifecycle processes.

• Develop PowerShell and Citrix PowerShell automation scripts.

• Implement Infrastructure as Code using HashiCorp Terraform and HCL.

• Utilize HashiCorp Packer to automate the creation and maintenance of machine images.

• Develop and uphold GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

• Apply Ansible for configuration management and operational automation.

• Integrate platform services and workflows with REST APIs.

• Identify dependencies, risks, prerequisites, and implementation constraints.

• Define and execute functional, integration, regression, and post-deployment testing.

• Coordinate and execute production deployments, upgrades, configuration changes, and platform releases.

• Automate monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational health checks.

• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure, connectivity, performance, and application delivery issues across Citrix and AWS.

• Validate service health and platform stability following implementation.

• Maintain operational standards, security controls, access management, and platform best practices.

• Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, security, and application teams.

• Document technical designs, automation workflows, configurations, deployment procedures, testing results, and operational runbooks.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8+ years of relevant IT experience, with robust hands-on expertise in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, virtualization, or a related technical field.

• Proven experience in engineering and administering Citrix platforms, preferably in AWS-hosted environments with Citrix Cloud / DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.

• Solid understanding of Citrix architecture, VDI delivery models, persistent and non-persistent desktops, and Machine Creation Services (MCS).

• Practical experience in managing Citrix image lifecycles, including Gold Images, image updates, publishing, and deployment automation.

• Advanced skills in PowerShell scripting and Citrix PowerShell development.

• Strong hands-on experience with HashiCorp Terraform and HCL, encompassing Infrastructure as Code development and maintenance.

• Practical experience with HashiCorp Packer for automated image creation and lifecycle management.

• Experience in developing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

• Hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management and infrastructure automation.

• Experience in integrating REST APIs into scripts, automation workflows, and platform management processes.

• Ability to independently analyze requirements, design technical solutions, identify dependencies and risks, and deliver changes end to end.

• Experience with production deployments, release management, testing, rollback planning, and post-deployment validation.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, virtualization, networking, identity, connectivity, and application delivery.

• Capability to develop reliable, repeatable, secure, and maintainable production-grade automation.

• Experience with version control, code reviews, configuration management, and automation best practices.

• Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to provide concrete examples of technical solutions personally designed, automated, deployed, and supported in production environments.

• AWS certifications or relevant cloud engineering qualifications (preferred).

• Citrix certifications (preferred).

• Experience with AWS infrastructure services, networking, security, and identity management (preferred).

• Familiarity with AWS-native Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation (preferred).

• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions (preferred).

• Experience implementing automated security controls and compliance standards (preferred).

• Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments (preferred).

• Previous experience in international consulting or complex infrastructure transformation programs (preferred).
