Circuit Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Create telecommunications circuits and generate thorough and precise Circuit Layout Records (CLRs)

• Conduct circuit analysis and testing with specified engineering tools and equipment

• Take ownership of the design process from the initial idea to full implementation

• Ensure that engineering standards and design criteria are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle

• Collaborate with Project Managers and Coordinators to provide insights from circuit and equipment databases

• Confirm network resources and engineering specifications to facilitate project execution

• Assist in meeting delivery schedules and provisioning milestones

• Evaluate customer and internal orders for accuracy

• Check the availability of necessary facilities and network equipment to satisfy circuit requirements

• Aid provisioning activities and facility assignments

• Work with engineering teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of circuit databases

• Serve as an additional quality-control checkpoint for engineering data

• Manage multiple circuit orders ranging from straightforward to highly complex implementations

• Provide Access Service Request (ASR) requirements for DS1 through Ethernet services

• Streamline order processing between engineering and operational teams

• Submit and monitor Engineering Service Requests (ESRs) through installation and readiness for service

• Generate Purchase Orders (POs) for equipment that supports circuit designs

• Operate under general supervision and work collaboratively with Order Management, Network Design, Project Management, and Engineering Operations

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in telecommunications, circuit service delivery, facility assignments, circuit engineering/design, or related telecommunications engineering fields

• Proven experience and proficiency in telecommunications engineering principles and practices

• Familiarity with analog and digital circuit design

• Understanding of network design methodologies and engineering tools

• Knowledge of IP Telephony

• Familiarity with MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching)

• Understanding of fiber optic, microwave, radio, satellite, and copper transmission systems

• Knowledge of multiplexing, compression, and echo cancellation technologies

• Familiarity with Digital Cross-Connect Systems (DCS)

• Understanding of network topology and circuit visualization/design

• Knowledge of telecommunications provisioning environments

• Familiarity with circuit database management and engineering record systems

• Strong critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills

• Systems analysis and operational monitoring capabilities

• Ability to visualize network and circuit layouts

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong deductive reasoning and analytical skills

• Knowledge of telecom network functionality and transmission hardware/software platforms

• Capability to design and/or approve equipment specifications within MetaSolv
