Chinese Linguist – Interpretation, Part-Time, Travel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Fluently read, write, and speak Chinese at a native level.

• Provide interpretation assistance primarily within an office environment, including during formal meetings.

• Support may involve simultaneous or consecutive interpretation, ensuring the preservation of the speaker's nuance and terminology.

• Utilize knowledge of foreign affairs, military matters, international security, and regional security issues, along with the relevant vocabulary, to deliver high-quality support.

• Participate in preparation and after-action meetings, documenting notes related to engagements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active Secret clearance within the scope of the position.

• A minimum of 5 years of interpretation experience.

• Candidates must demonstrate native or near-native proficiency in Chinese.

• Proficiency will be assessed through standardized language examinations, which are required as part of the application process.

• Candidates should be well-versed in the culture, media, and linguistic subtleties of Chinese.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory for candidates.

• Candidates must hold a valid US passport and be prepared to travel at least quarterly with 30-60 days’ notice.
