This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Monitor developments, policies, and public discussions regarding China’s transition to industrial decarbonization, with a focus on the steel sector.
• Gather information through official government documents, online resources, social media, and professional networks.
• Evaluate China’s steel industry and other industrial sectors from both policy and economic perspectives.
• Compose reports, briefings, and articles.
• Deliver presentations in both Chinese and English on advancements in clean energy.
• Conduct thorough analyses of China’s industrial decarbonization efforts, particularly regarding the steel sector and its international trade implications.
• Prepare research, analysis, and conclusions for reports and policy briefings.
• Formulate and present policy and technical recommendations to various audiences, including Chinese and international partners, stakeholders, and grant funders.
• Collaborate with team members on the execution of projects and the delivery of outputs.
• Share evidence-based research findings with policymakers and journalists.
• Assist in locating, acquiring, and analyzing data from Chinese sources while working alongside analysts and data scientists.
• Proficient in both Chinese and English, with strong spoken and written communication skills.
• Master’s degree and/or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in academic, financial, or non-profit research, journalism, or related fields.
• Excellent research and analytical abilities, with a background in publishing research and commentary.
• In-depth knowledge of China's industrial sector and steel decarbonization.
• Familiarity with the economics of the green transition.
• Understanding of the implications of climate-related trade measures, such as the EU’s CBAM.
• Strong data analysis skills and a keen interest in data-driven research.
• Exceptional writing and communication abilities to present complex topics in an accessible and fact-based manner are preferred.
• Willingness to collaborate with a globally distributed team, with preferred experience in multicultural environments.
• A team player demonstrating high performance and accountability.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and projects while contributing flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic work setting.
• Must be legally eligible to work and be employed by a Finnish organization.
