This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.
• Lead the China Asset Strategy Team to deliver impactful pharmaceutical products to customers swiftly and efficiently while collaborating with JAPAC and global teams.
• Develop and implement strategies for the development of assigned assets in China.
• Ensure that development assets provide significant value to the pharmaceutical landscape in China through rapid, extensive, and effective pipeline development.
• Evaluate market potential and commercialization factors during the development planning process.
• Oversee, drive, and coordinate all development activities in China through the Asset Strategy Team.
• Promote continuous improvement throughout the lifecycle of assets.
• Create integrated development strategies for China that align with regulatory standards and commercial necessities.
• Introduce new products to the market utilizing the most efficient and cost-effective methods.
• Offer insights to global Asset Strategy Teams to ensure that China strategies are aligned with global development initiatives.
• Align development strategies with stakeholders from China commercial, JAPAC, Intercon, and the Asset Strategy Team.
• Represent the local Asset Strategy Team in global meetings and relevant decision-making bodies in China.
• Establish ambitious asset-related goals with team members.
• Maintain team motivation while fostering trust and transparency.
• Provide consistent performance feedback to team members.
• Propel assets forward with a focus on speed, quality, and budget management.
• Outline and plan development timelines and key milestones.
• Drive the execution of China asset strategies by leading both local and global Asset Strategy Teams.
• Devise proposals to manage, mitigate, or resolve project risks within China.
• Hold Asset Strategy Team members accountable for meeting agreed timelines and budgets.
• Build relationships with the global Asset Strategy Leadership group.
• Contribute to the strategy of the China portfolio and ensure alignment among cross-affiliate stakeholders.
• Lead initiatives across AbbVie to enhance leadership capabilities and improve team performance.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a life science field is required.
• An advanced degree is highly preferred (e.g., MD, PhD, MBA).
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in drug development within a pharmaceutical or biotech environment.
• Experience in Neuroscience and/or Immunology is preferred.
• Strong strategic thinking, collaboration, facilitative leadership, executive function, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to quickly assimilate new information and apply it to asset strategy.
• Experience leading a team in a cross-functional setting.
• Ability to exercise objective judgment and develop practical solutions for complex cross-functional challenges.
• Capability to seek stakeholder advice and make informed decisions despite uncertainty or incomplete data.
• Ability to lead and inspire team members across various functional areas.
• Capacity to lead through influence and bring out the best in others.
• Ability to delegate accountability and decision-making to supporting teams and functions.
• Willingness to respectfully challenge team members and functions while managing conflict effectively.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.
