This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the leading technical authority to support organizational development.
• Manage the technology and data strategy for a commercial real estate private equity firm with over $1B in assets under management.
• Convert business strategies into actionable technology roadmaps.
• Provide technical expertise on AI projects, architectural choices, build-versus-buy assessments, and implementation.
• Evaluate and enhance data architecture standards across MRI, Argus, and Microsoft platforms.
• Supervise data warehouse projects for organizational analytics and reporting.
• Define primary data sources and the data flow between different platforms.
• Oversee automation of workflows involving both internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead product assessments and advise on integration strategies.
• Direct the creation of customized line-of-business applications and products.
• Implement technology governance, policies, technical standards, access controls, vendor risk management protocols, and protections for personally identifiable information.
• Establish measures for return on investment and success metrics for technology projects.
• Manage the technology budget and oversee vendor contract negotiations.
• Develop a framework for evaluating build-versus-buy decisions.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies that can be resolved through custom tools or automation.
• Enhance and maintain the firm’s cybersecurity posture.
• Coordinate incident response and breach notification preparedness with the Legal team.
• Own SOC 2 readiness and develop the corresponding compliance roadmap.
• Set standards for data access and identity management.
• Report on cybersecurity posture and key risk indicators to company leadership.
• Plan and execute the technology roadmap.
• Recommend both internal and external resources.
• Balance immediate wins with long-term infrastructure investments.
• Update the COO on progress, risks, and resource needs related to the roadmap.
• Serve as a senior technical representative in decisions across departments.
• Mentor and guide internal technology personnel.
• Connect business stakeholders with technical execution.
• Demonstrated seniority and technical credibility, supported by practical experience.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML tools, data architecture, and contemporary SaaS integration methodologies.
• High level of emotional intelligence.
• Comfortable taking ownership of a roadmap with genuine accountability.
• Experience in B2B, ERP, or regulated data contexts is highly preferred.
• Willingness and capability to travel to Southern California quarterly for in-person executive meetings.
• Over 10 years of technology leadership experience, including roles such as CTO, VP of Engineering, or equivalent senior positions.
• Proven background as a builder in a product company, delivering software as a CTO or VP of Engineering.
• Established track record of developing and implementing technology roadmaps in mid-market or expanding firms.
• Proven history of building high-performing teams.
• Active engagement as a hands-on AI/ML practitioner.
• Extensive experience with SaaS platform integrations, data architecture, and API-connected environments.
• Previous experience in commercial real estate, proptech, financial services, or other complex data environments is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of CCPA, SEC safeguarding requirements, state breach notification laws, and SOC 2.
• Proven ability to thrive in a principal-led, entrepreneurial organization.
