📋 Description

• Establish the overall vision for a contemporary, remote people and culture strategy that aligns workforce planning with the organization's long-term strategic objectives and core values.

• Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to the CEO and executive leadership on matters related to organizational design, change management, and leadership development.

• Lead and guide substantial organizational evolution and development by utilizing data and analytics to enhance effectiveness and workforce planning.

• Directly manage, mentor, and coach a dynamic People team, fostering an inclusive culture founded on mutual trust, data-driven execution, and clear accountability.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive internal engagement strategy to build foundational trust and gauge employee sentiment.

• Promote an inclusive atmosphere for all personnel, ensuring that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles are deeply integrated into the organization's culture, operational systems, and every phase of the employee lifecycle.

• Encourage an open, mission-centric culture that effectively balances deep empathy with well-defined institutional boundaries and accountability structures.

• Collaborate with the Executive Director and Director of People at Trevor Mexico to ensure alignment, foster collaboration, and achieve cultural integration.

• In conjunction with the General Counsel, act as an organizational leader in labor relations, adeptly managing and upholding the collective bargaining agreement with the union representing employees in the bargaining unit.

• Develop strong learning, mentorship, and development pathways that encompass all-staff learning initiatives and programs specifically designed to support and enhance the skills of first-time managers.

• Ensure a solid HR infrastructure by systematically rebuilding and stabilizing essential operational systems, including payroll, total rewards, and leave administration as necessary.

• Optimize day-to-day transactional workflows, ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable laws while enhancing data integrity.

• Oversee and improve the People function’s budget, ensuring that investments in technical resources and headcount effectively support overarching organizational priorities.


⛳️ Requirements

• 10–15 years of progressive People/HR experience, with at least 5 years in an executive-level leadership position.

• Proven track record of successfully leading organizational change, stabilizing HR departments, and guiding teams through strategic transformations.

• Strong history of balancing high-level strategy with a willingness to engage in operational details to strengthen and build foundational infrastructure.

• Direct experience in unionized settings and managing collective bargaining agreements.

• Demonstrated ability to engage, lead, and set clear boundaries with a passionate, mission-driven workforce.

• Capacity to develop personnel frameworks or management styles tailored to high-stress, 24/7, and shift-based crisis environments.

• Deep understanding of the systemic challenges and intersectional realities facing LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities, ensuring HR systems and benefits maintain cultural competence and inclusive language.

• Proven ability to incorporate organizational values along with diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practices throughout the employee lifecycle.

• Successful experience in managing culture, collaboration, and performance metrics across fully remote, distributed teams. Previous experience with 24/7 and shift-based teams is advantageous.

• Prior experience collaborating with international entities, particularly Spanish-speaking or Latin American branches, is a plus.

• Previous experience in progressive, mid-to-large scale non-profit environments is a plus.
